greenbriar island campground for beginners

What better way of experiencing the raw beauty of nature than through careful planning and preparation of a good camping or hiking excursion. Winter camping brings an entirely new element to the activity of camping.

One of the most common problems that campers face is being unprepared for changing climactic conditions, consequently being ill-equipped with proper clothing and equipment for storms, sudden shifts in temperatures, wind chill factors and heavy rains. There are some basic preparation and precautions to take when planning a hike. Spend time in shade whenever resting and wear skin protection like hats, sunscreen, light cotton clothing when exposed to the sun.

Before going on a hike, it is also a good idea to take part in a basic first aid course. Stocking up on food ration will be required especially on long trips and it is always better to carry a little extra especially when camping with children. To prepare for a hiking trip, sometimes I train on a bike as it uses a lot of the same muscles you use when hiking uphill.

First and foremost, note that mountain climbing, regardless of level, requires a certain amount of time, money, and fitness. For me, there is no drug that you can take, that will give you the incredible feeling of accomplishment that finishing a good hike gives you. Depending on where you are going and how far you are hiking, you may be quite comfortable in a three-season tent.

Summer camps are available throughout the country and are affordable ways to let the kids have some summer fun. Hiking and climbing are fairly inexpensive sports, so get out there.
